The Alexander Hour (Short Film) - Dogma Challenge
For 'The Alexander Hour' we had to work within the confides of the Dogme 99 principles and write, film and edit within two hours with the theme of isolation. This was one of the most restrictive means of filmmaking I've ever participated in.

Mirror (15 Second Short) - 1 Hour Film Challenge
Mirror is a fifteen second horror film. For this film challenge we had less than an hour to write, film and edit a short punchy horror film. Despite the limited amount of time, we quickly developed two ideas. Neither of them were feasible, so we quickly initiated a plan C and were fortunate to have a quick turn around.

Essex IPU - Nurturing Talent (Corporate Video)
St Andrew's Healthcare is the largest provider of beds to mental health patients outside of the NHS and their Essex Integrated Practice Unit (IPU) commissioned me to create a corporate video to promote their efforts in nurturing in-house talent. I found that I had trouble getting the sound of the interviews to a professional standard and these problems showed me the importance of sound in the future.

The Tomcats - Batman (Music Video)
The song Batman (Live by the Gun) is about a man who, after shooting someone, is filled with regret. This made telling the visual story quite easy, as the song was so rich for storytelling. The biggest problems and learning curves came from pre-production as our original band pulled out last minute and left us with little time to get something together. I'm ultimately happy with the final result.

Dragonz Lair (Advert)
I was commissioned to create an advert for an MMA Gym. I was given full creative freedom to so whatever I wished and decided to create a mockumentary style video featuring two seemingly professional fighters hyping up a fake fight, and then revealing that in actual fact, they are average workers and that with Dragonz Lair gym, anyone can be train like a pro. I took a lot from the talking head style in future, more serious documentaries.

Based on a True Story (Short Film)
Based on a True Story is a fictional ten minute drama. It's about two friends, one of whom has a brain tumour and can no longer remember most of his life, and he asks his best friend to retell certain stories. The friend lies to make his dying friend's life sound better than it was. We see the truth but hear the lie. This is probable my most successful short film to date. The biggest flaw came in set design which was a problem we didn't realise until it was too late. I've since taken this learning experience on board and tried to take more care with the sets I use.

Kill Self (Short Silent Film)
Kill Self is a short silent film about a man who receives a letter from himself in the future that says he needs to solve a problem by a certain date and if he doesn't he must kill himself as it's the only way to save all of civilisation. My big lesson taken from this is that I am terrible at making silent films and need to work much harder at visual storytelling to compel the audience.

The Master Plan (Short Film)
The Master Plan was my first attempt at writing comedy. It's about a man on a phone to a seemingly large group of people on some sort of mission and simply asking if they're all in place or not. As they go around confirming they're ready, they are all revealed to have increasingly funny names and finally, when the mission is ready to go, the leader's phone dies. My biggest takeaway from this experience is the hardship of writing comedy. To make it broad is so difficult and writing to your own taste limits the scope of the audience.

Self Portrait (Short Silent Film)
My first task as a film student was to create a short, one minute silent film about myself and what identifies me as me, stipulating that I was not able to star in it. I therefore created an experimental, over-stylistic film about 'me' watching and writing films.

Sons of Rapture (Short Film)
For my first short film I wanted to make something ambitious, so I created a full-CGI film set in space about four pilots having their final conversation before a suicide mission. Spoiler alert, it's terrible. It's truly awful. I read that Robert Rodriguez said that every director has about a dozen or so bad films in them so the sooner they get them out, the better. So this is first of a dozen.

Schmoe Toons Episode 1 - It's Luke Skywalker Mother F! (Cartoon Web Series)
After listening to a podcast about films and finding a segment of it funny, I decided to attempt to animate a portion of it and upload it to YouTube. After doing this the hosts of the podcast saw it, liked it and commissioned more. This taught me a lot about working to deadlines and briefs and since it is my most popular video, broadcasting to tens of thousands of people, I learnt a lot about receiving feedback from large numbers of people and trying to please everybody.
