What's the same?
The lighting within the first part of 'Bathroom Stall' will remain realistic and serve no significant purpose outside of simply making my actors and locations visible and clear on the camera. It is very deliberate that the lighting will be this clear cut at the start, to further emphasise the later changes. Since the film is set in an office block and bathroom stall, I want the lights to appear quite clinical and white as opposed to warmer yellows and oranges.
What's different?
At one point of the story, during the third song of the musical, the lights will go dark and then only a spotlight will remain. This is with the aim of pulling a laugh from the audience, as it will evoke similarities to a stage show, thus taking the viewer slightly off guard, hopefully enough to make them realise the absurdity of the musical and it's subject matter and hopefully gaining a laugh. The lights will later return to their previous form and it will be as if nothing happened in the eyes of the two central characters.
