Depending on the overall success of the final cut, I intend on distributing in the following places:
YouTube
YouTube is universally recognised, highly accessibly, and most importantly, free! It's an easy way to distribute anything, with the added benefit of being instantly available on a large number of devices. I have already uploaded the rest of my portfolio to YouTube so it's important to include Bathroom Stall on there to help with the growing brand. It's also important because the original stage show was uploaded to YouTube and that was how it was discovered for the adaptation.
Vimeo
Vimeo has a reputation in the online field as a place for Short Films to blossom. It's a competitor with YouTube in as many ways as it isn't. It's a free platform for users to upload their videos, but it has a bit more of a targeted viewership. THere's a lot less 'noise' on Vimeo, in that it's solely populated by similar content, but that means there's a lot less eyes to potentially find Bathroom Stall.
Short Independent Film Festivals (UK & International)
Should the film turn out as I hope it will, it could be a contender at certain film festivals around the world. Being a unique style of comedy it certainly has a hook that people would potentially latch onto. Festivals allow unknown short films to find an audience through word of mouth and possibly even gaining critical acclaim. Some examples of the festivals Bathroom Stall could be target at are: London Short Film Festival, ASFF, BFI Future Film Festival, Norwich Film Festival, Olympia International Film Festival and more!
iTunes & Spotify
With the short film being a musical, it gives me the unique opportunity to distribute the soundtrack as a separate entity in the hopes of gaining recognition and building awareness elsewhere with a community that might not find it otherwise. The soundtrack could be released on iTunes and Spotify for folk to find the music only, and since the musical is entirely sung-through, the story can still be followed and enjoyed without the need for the visual aid of the film.
